Scholastic

Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher of children’s books. I was an instructional writer/editor/project manager for their arts and crafts imprint, Klutz.

I collaborated with toy designers and manufacturers to develop kits complete with instruction books and custom-made art supplies. This entailed product development (from sourcing, safety, sampling, to costing) and material knowledge (from fabric, elastic, paper, to paint). 

PROJECTS

Wrote step-by-step sewing instructions. Worked with illustrators to create accompanying art for each step.

Developed mechanics for playing 20+ jumping games, complete with a custom-made stretchy rope! This was a finalist for the 2024 American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) Play Awards for exemplary toys.

Developed fun facts for a build-your-own LEGO race car kit. It was a Toy of the Year (TOTY) award finalist in 2022.
